Marine biodiversity conservation is the objective of a marine protected area. To achieve it, and within the framework of stakeholder consultation, resources and measures are implemented based on tools such as management plans. But these plans are still in their early development stages, due to a lack of stakeholder consensus on their content and structure. PANACHE aimed to identify best international practices in order to establish a standard management plan structure within the Channel area, for more coherent marine protected area administration.
A concerted approach also helped increase stakeholder involvement and facilitate shared approaches in marine protected areas, to address the vulnerability of coastal breeding birds for example.
